The spiritual perspective that I plan to present to you in this book
is going to be initially, philosophically challenging to the Christian
worldview. To some, it has been argued to be counter-Christianity,
but I assure you that it falls very much inline. So it is essential
for me to be totally up front with you to let you know from what perspective
that I present this to you. So, before I really put time in this book,
I definitely feel it to be necessary to make the following declarations:

One of the more enjoyable aspects of my research was the
etymology of the Gaines name.
So
I have come to the conclusion. And now that I am getting older, I
find the relevance of this philosophy to become profoundly true.
Experience
is the great teacher and thirty years in one profession is barely
enough to learn how to do it right. If the average life span can be
200 years, then one can spend the first twenty learning the basic
society rules for survival, then spend the next one hundred and thirty
years in a series of professions. Then the final fifty years of life
in leisure.

Some years ago, while looking for a new
church to attend, we came across a church that had the motto “Reaching
the Churched, Under-Churched and Over-Churched”. I’ve never heard
the term “Over-Churched” before and was drawn towards it. Although
I have had countless spiritual re-awakenings, revelations, epiphanies
and inspirations, I cannot remember when I first became a Christian.
